West Baton Rouge Parish Detention Center


West Baton Rouge Parish Detention Center provides jail services for all law enforcement agencies in West Baton Rouge Parish. The jail facility was built in 1997 as part of the West Baton Rouge Parish Law Enforcement Center in Port Allen, Louisiana. The facility was constructed to house 330 inmates, 297 males and 33 females. The facility has been self-sufficient since its inception and utilizes an 80 acre garden to help defray costs of feeding the inmates. The Detention Center handles approximately 3400 bookings in a single calendar year.
 
Weekly programs offered to the inmates include General Education Development (GED), Alcoholics Anonymous/Narcotics Anonymous (AA/NA), non-denominational religious programs; the jail provides 24 hour a day / 7 days a week access to inmates by clergy and counsel by arrangement.
 
The West Baton Rouge Parish Detention Center provides for incarceration of persons in pre-trial or post-trial status, federal detainees and Louisiana Department of Correction detainees, as well. Major Bryan Bellelo is the Warden at the Detention Center and can be reached at 225-346-6400, Monday thru Friday 8a.m. thru 4:30p.m..
